We are told that we live in a democratic society, yet we spend the majority of our lives in places where we are ruled over by people we didn’t elect, where we are assigned orders we cannot disobey, where public protest does not count as freedom of speech. And this is if we are lucky enough to have work at all. Workers for a Democratic Workplace imagines a world in which all employees would have a say in how their workplaces are organized, in what role they each fill, and in how benefits are distributed. In the short term, WDW supports the extension and preservation of union rights, the one form of workplace democracy that already exists.
